• You might ask….

Why does Rebecca's site look different? Good question! It's a New Year. What better way to start off the year than to start fresh and clean. I've got some big things planned for my site that I hope to have launched this spring. It will take some design time on my side and some technical workings on the internet side of things. But until then, I decided to keep it fresh and clean so my mind can see a blank canvas each time I come to work on the blog. I'll be testing different layouts, designs, etc so if something looks weird one day, know that it's just me tinkering around. Who knows, my entire brand might change! You never know what will happen when you start out fresh and clean.

in the hay

I love a cute family and some hay

Ok, let’s talk themed photoshoots:

This particular shoot took a few weeks to plan.  The majority of the planning coming from the client.  If you have an idea for a themed shoot, I am more than happy to help!  But keep in mind that if you have a particular type of location in mind, you might have to do a bit of legwork for me:) Because I work a full time job during the week, I don’t get the time to go location scouting.  Weekends are spent shooting and spending time with my family.  So you are my ultimate location scout.  Know someone with a farm or an awesome backyard?  Call them up!  Most people are more than happy to share the wealth.   Especially if you let them know that I might be able to cut them an awesome deal on a shoot  :)  Which reminds me….if you have a great piece of land, farm, etc or you know someone who’d be willing to let me shoot there, send them my way!

Props:   I love them!  However, I only provide a few props…a chair here, a blanket there, a few books, etc.   If there are props that you need that will make your themed shoot come alive, talk to me about it.  I  might already have them.  If not, you’ll have to do some hunting.  This is why it’s important to plan, plan, plan.

You know what I’ve always wanted to do?  a balloon shoot.  I’m talking a ton of balloons…I don’t know how pricey that is..but in my head it looks pretty cool and totally worth it.

I can’t wait to have kids so I can theme shoot them like crazy  :)

Beautiful Girl

Ever heard of a little band called The Beatles?  I think this precious little girl was born a fan.  Mom and Dad are big Beatles fans so it’s no surprise that this little beauty is named Lennon….

beautiful beautiful beautiful…beautiful girl.

Andrea and Jon engaged

After this shoot, all I wanted to do was crank up some jazz and chug some moonshine, ha!  When Andrea and Jon contacted me about doing a Harlem Renaissance themed engagement shoot, I was super pumped.  I had to get into the right mindset and think back on my Music Appreciation class in college.  I remembered studying a bit about the influence of music during that time period.  (My dad would be proud…after all, he was my Music Appreciation teacher…I got an A.)   Check out these two love birds themed engagement shoot!

I love the purple and the brick wall together.  love love love it.

you guys are the best!

We Care

Ok, Ok I know Christmas is over (sad).  But since I’m behind in my postings (story of my life) I figured it would be ok to post this special Christmas post.  Since 2008, my company (Gresham, Smith & Partners) has participated in a charity event for the Boys and Girls Club of Tampa.  This event is called WeCare and is sponsered by Herman Miller.  Local architectural and interior design firms in and around Tampa donate their time and creativity by helping the kids with Christmas Crafts for them to give to their family and friends.   This is by far my favorite event that we participate in.   To see the joy on the kids faces as they come to your craft table is enough to bring tears to your eyes.  I absolutely love photographing this event.

Along with the crafts, we have face painters, a photo booth, a human snowglobe, and a visit from Santa!  Even some Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleaders stopped by with Captain Fear.  Oh and let’s not forget ThunderBug.  The Tampa Bay Lightning Hockey mascot.  Gooooood Times…

Can’t wait till next year!

Totally off subject and random:  I just watched the movie trailer for War Horse….can we talk about the tears streaming down my face that won’t stop???? How can a movie trailer do that to someone?  My mom wants me to go see it.  I’m scared that I will never recover from it if I go.  You know when you start crying in a movie and by the time the movie is over your lips are burning from the salt in your tears, the front of your shirt is wet, you’re hot and sweating b/c of the shoulder shaking and sniffling…I can’t go see War Horse.  It will be Radio all over again… yeah, you remember Radio with Cuba Gooding Jr. (“where my pie?”)…thinking about it makes my throat tighten…here we go again…

ha!

home

I went home over the holidays and man did it feel good to get away and just be home.  Mississippi is home to me, Tennessee is home to my husband.  We were all over both states.  Talk about a lot of time spent together, with the dog, in the truck, loaded down with luggage and gifts.   Needless to say, it’s nice to be off the road even though it aches to think that I had to leave home.

I’m back at it starting tomorrow, answering emails, got some blog posts to put up, etc.  Can’t wait to start design work on this blog site, hopefully sooner than later…we’ll see.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Years Eve.  2011 had it’s ups and downs….i’m glad to see it go.

2012, bring it on.
