I am a child of the 80s and early 90s. Vanilla Ice was definitely a part of my childhood. I remember sitting down in the dining room, listening to Ice Ice Baby on a boombox covered in crayon (I used to color on my speakers) and trying to figure out and write down every single word that came out of Vanilla’s mouth. I was about 7 or 8 years old and writing down lyrics like “Will it ever stop yo I don’t know, Turn off the lights and I’ll glow, To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal, Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle..DANCE”. I had no idea what he was saying or what it meant. All I knew what that it had a beat. A good one.
ANYWAY, why the story about Vanilla Ice you ask? Well, Vanilla says it perfectly. Stop, collaborate and LISTEN….that’s what I’ve had to tell myself the past few months. My little business mind has been going back and forth and in and out and driving me bonkers…SO the little business is about to change…Not a whole lot but definitely for the better. We’ll talk about that in a minute but first let me give a HUGE shout out to all of my clients from this year and last year! It’s been a great first 2 years in the business. I can’t believe my little photo business baby will be 2 years old in February…time sure does fly. THANK YOU TO ALL OF MY CLIENTS, FACEBOOK FANS AND SUPPORTERS!!! It’s your kind words and smiles that keep me going. I LOVE watching your families grow and capturing the love you share for one another in photos. So without further ado….here’s a look back…might want to go pottie now…it’s a boatload of photos….Titanic size….like for real, get out your lifeboat (ok, ok i’m done).

Now for the announcement! (drumroll please, well it’s not THAT big of an announcement I guess)
Rebecca Dodson Photography will now be specializing only in children and family lifestyle photography (newborn and maternity still included). This means, unfortunately, that as of now, Rebecca Dodson Photography will no longer be booking weddings. This was a tough decision. I’m not ruling out weddings forever just for a little while. I want to see where this family/children photography thing will take me. There’s something about photographing families just as they are that captivates me and keeps me going. I will still be providing posed shots but I’m going to try and transition to less poses and more REALness…does that make sense?
ALSO, I am opening up a SECOND part of the business. Boudoir, Fashion, Makeup and Bridal Photography (Bridals, Trash the Dress and After the Wedding Sessions). There will be a separate website/blog for this. Why the separate site you ask? Well, you’ll see…this site will be geared toward an older audience…nothing outrageously racy. Just sweet, classy fun…this is still in the works so stay tuned….so if you’re a bride who’s unhappy with her bridal portraits or just wants to get back into that beautiful dress and have some fun, a bride and groom who want a funky portrait session, or just a girl that wants to have a fun fashion, boudoir type shoot, this new venture is for you!
THANK YOU AGAIN TO ALL OF MY SWEET CLIENTS!! you are the best clients out there…have I told you that?
Be on the lookout for a Spring Mini Session Day (maybe even more), contests and more!!! Send me around to your friends, a referral program might be in the works!!
2011 here we come!!
