in a field? why not?

I love love love sessions in a field.  There’s this wonderfully beautiful field off of US 301 in the Riverview/Brandon area where I love to shoot.  Sadly, a new Publix will be built there soon taking away my natural photo studio  :(   BUT it will bring about more jobs and people need groceries to eat I guess, so maybe it’s not the end of the world.  Needless to say, I will be on the hunt for a new field.

Yesterday I took Rob, Danielle and their newest addition, Olivia, out to my beloved field for a new baby shoot!  Olivia was only 9 days old at the shoot and mom and dad seem to be adjusting just fine!  Olivia is just as precious as she can be.

baby feet!!

the fabric in the next photo…well, I bought that to eventually make a pillow or something…for now, using as a photoprop will certainly do!

Rob, Danielle and little Olivia, thank you guys so much for hiring me to capture these memories and braving the field for me!  Olivia is so beautiful and precious.

Just some random ramblings for all you readers:

You might notice that I don’t do the typical “squishy baby in a basket” or “squishy baby in a cute little ball in a tiny little basket” shots.  For one thing, that is hard work!  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not opposed to hardwork, it’s just very hard to pose those little guys and girls when I haven’t had one of my own to practice with. So for now, I love to capture a baby in their natural state, just being babies.   Maybe someday I’ll have the courage to stuff a baby into a little ball and put them in a tiny little basket or maybe I won’t.  Maybe this naturalness will become a signature Rebecca Dodson style of baby photography…the “lay the baby flat on it’s back and capture the realness” style.  I think there’s something to be said for “realness”.

Danielle, we got some great tutu shots, but I HAD to post this next one.  So cute.  So real.  :)

Denise - I’m stalking your blog, lol!! I absolutely love your style of baby photography, it’s so sweet and real. These pictures are so cool, I wish you’d been around when my children were younger. I love that last one, verycute!
